Congress Scope

The main objective of the Congress will be the presentation of the latest advances in the field of discovery and development of drugs for the treatment of neglected diseases and other diseases that are relevant for public health in Argentina and worldwide. The Congress will take place in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry - University of Buenos Aires, UBA, together with the celebration of the 35thanniversary of the foundation of the Institute of Drug Chemistry and Metabolism (IQUIMEFA) (UBA-CONICET).

National and foreign visitors will participate in the Congress, including health care professionals as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students. The scientific programme will include topics related to parasitic, viral and bacterial diseases with high impact on public health, particularly, in developing countries. Chagas’ disease, African trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis, dengue and mycetoma, among others will be discussed as well as vector-borne diseases, such as malaria, zika, chikungunya and Argentine hemorrhagic fever.


The Congress is an opportunity to discuss the latest scientific advances in the field of drug development. The exchange and discussion of ideas will be encouraged, allowing the establishment of cooperative research works.

Abstract submission

Only unpublished research works will be accepted for either oral or poster presentation. Abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee and only upon approval will they be assigned for presentation.

Abstracts must be sent to the following email address: resumenes@ddndic.com. Authors must indicate the thematic field.

At least one author must be registered at the moment of abstract submission. Registration fees allow the presentation of a maximum of two abstracts.


Poster size must be 90 cm wide x 100 cm long. Those participants who wish to present their work(s) orally must indicate so in the registration form. The Scientific Committee will select works for oral presentation.

Abstracts and posters must be presented in English.

Fee waivers

After a selection by the Scientific Committee, ten fee waivers will be awarded to doctoral and post-doctoral fellows doing their studies in Argentina.


The Organizing Committee will award the Drug Discovery for Neglected Diseases International Congress 2018 Award to the best research work presented. The award will consist of a diploma and a free-of-charge publication in Molecules (http://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules). Two special mentions will be awarded to scientifically outstanding research works.

Publications in Molecules

Those interested will be able to publish the extended version of their works in a special issue of Molecules, whose Editors will be Albertina Moglioni PhD. and Valeria Sülsen PhD. http://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules/special_issues/drug_neglected_diseases
Manuscripts will be evaluated by external reviewers and must be submitted following the Journal’s instructions for authors.
Congress participants will obtain a 25% discount on the publication fees.
